Download: The Simpsons Arcade Game
It’s been twenty years and some change since March 4, 1991 when The Simpsons Arcade Game was introduced. Today, PS3 owners have the opportunity to download The Simpsons Arcade Game on their respective console to commemorate the series’ upcoming 500th episode, set to air February 19th 2012 — Xbox 360 owners got the game a bit earlier, on February 3.
Added with new modes and features such as online mode, unlimited play or quarter mode to name a few, those who purchase will still feel at ease picking up and playing this classic arcade port no matter if it’s new to you or a nostalgic throwback to the boardwalk arcade days.
The Simpsons Arcade Game retails for the following:
Xbox 360 – 800 Microsoft Points
PS3 – $9.99 (note: Playstation Plus members currently can download this title for free.)
What’s the story?
Being a fan of fighting games, I usually harp on the pre-order and anxiously await the release date following every possible article that comes out about it until the game is finally in my hands. Where some gamers pass over the genre in lieu of the punch, kick, uppercut stigma, I always found myself drawn into the back story of it all.
For me, reading through the character profiles leads me into choosing who I will start the game off with, solely for the fact that I want to see how their part in the game plays out. I think about the good ol’ Street Fighter games and seeing Blanka as this green dude with orange hair and, wait… he has electricity powers?! Come to find out, he was in the plane crash and was subsequently shocked and mutated — oh now it all makes sense.
