Kevin Pereira leaving G4′s “Attack of the Show”
After a decade working at G4, host Kevin Pereira has announced that he is leaving the network. Pereira first worked in production for the network, quickly becoming co-host for “Attack of the Show” in 2006. He will continue to host until his last day on May 31. Pereira will still be on-hand for the E3 2012 coverage, taking place the following week.
“For the last ten years, G4 has provided me a phenomenal career filled with countless once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and the chance to work with some of the most driven, talented and passionate people in the business,” said Pereira. “I want to thank our viewers for allowing me to inform and entertain them each and every week.”
Although I’m happy for Kevin taking this time to pursue other interests, this surely sucks for those that loved watching his daily antics. With the absence of Olivia Munn, Kevin Sessler, and Alison Haislip, Kevin’s departure truly is a tremendous blow to the network. This is a sad day in nerdom.
The Dark Knight Rises — Trailer #3
Batman returns this summer, and it’s going to kick ass.
Ninja Turtles live-action/ CGi hybrid movie arriving holiday 2013
My favorite foursome of ninja crime-fighters will be returning to the big screen next holiday. It’s been confirmed by Paramount that a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is slated to release Christmas 2013.
The film will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles), produced by Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes, and will be a hybrid of both live-action and CGi. I love the original ’90s trilogy of live-action turtles movies, as well as the CGi flick that released in 2007. The idea of a hybrid sounds like the best of both worlds, and I can’t wait.
It seems that the Ninja Turtles franchise is back on track after its recent acquisition from by Nickelodeon, who will also be releasing a brand-new redesigned cartoon in the coming months. I’m expecting a similar art style to that of the cartoon and that of the movie.
Street Fighter uppercuts Monopoly with new edition
You’ve probably noticed the recent trend of video game themed board games flooding store shelves. There have been plenty of Nintendo themed board games over the last few years, with Mario themed Yahtzee, puzzles, and chess to name a few. And last fall marked the release of RISK: Metal Gear Solid edition from Konami. Now it’s time for Capcom enthusiasts to enjoy the fun with Monopoly: Street Fighter Collector’s Edition in the works. Right now fans can vote for which of the six famous fighters will be selected as the game’s character pieces. Currently Ryu, Chun-Li, and M. Bison are in the lead.

Triforce Lamp will give you power, wisdom, courage… and light
Daft Bit’s Pete Betcher is at it again, folks. Previously, the crafty Texan created several gaming inspired works of art like the Question Mark Block Lamp, and Half Life themed lamp. This time Pete whipped up another lamp that any Hyrulian would appreciate.
The above is the iconic triforce symbol from The Legend of Zelda franchise, complete with 8-bit pixelation along the edges for a neat glow effect. A mixture of wood and plastic acrylic, the lamp can be hung, or positioned on a table — or both actually, as he’s got a couple available to purchase. Indeed this marks another stellar creation that I need to get my hands on. Well done, Pete!
The Triforce Lamp can be yours for $145, at the link below.
“Super” 3D glasses coming to theaters for The Avengers
If you’re planning on checking out The Avengers in 3D when it releases this May, you’ll have an option to forget about those drab over-sized 3D rental glasses. Marvel is releasing a set of sleek 3D glasses, each pair inspired by the iconic warddrobe of select superheroes featured in the film.
As pictured to the left, frames and lenses include designs inspired by Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man — I’m choosing one of the latter two!
These frames will be available at nearly all 3D movie theaters, for just $5 each, in conjunction with the film’s May 4 release.
The Amazing Spider-Man — new February 2012 trailer
It’s coming. The all new much-needed reboot of Spider-Man is upon us. Leaving the cheese of the first trilogy behind for an incredible cast and darker storyline (and 3D!), I’d say The Amazing Spider-Man has the potential to become one of my favorite superhero movie franchises to date. Let’s hope that happens.
Do yourself a favor and check out the new trailer for the film above. The flick will release July 3, 2012.
